We are a team of young entrepreneurs who started Attero around 2 years back because we have a passion for the environment and wanted to start a socially relevant business venture. Attero is backed by two of the world's best venture capital firms (DFJ and NEA-IUV) and we have invested more than Rs. 35 crore in setting up India's only integrated and automated E-Waste recycling plant.
The technology to recycle E-Waste in an environmentally friendly and efficient manner was developed in house by our R&D team and we are the only company in India and among the handful of companies worldwide to have this technology capability. Attero is the only E-Waste management company in India to have an EIA clearance from MOEF in addition to other clearances and certifications (like Consent to Operate, CPCB registration and ISO 14001 & 18001). We also have a Pan India collection capability.
Our plant was inaugurated by Honourable Dr. A. P. J. Kalam, Ex President of India on 20th January, 2010 and has been visited by teams from CPCB, MOEF and UKEPPCB, Okechukwu Ibeanu (Specialist Rapporteur of UN Human Rights Council), Stefono Senri (Human Rights High Commissionar), Sameer Kumar Singh (IFC, World Bank), K.P. Nyati (Ex Head Environment of CII), Vinnie Mehta (Executive Director, MAIT), A.S. Sadashivam (Chairman KPCB), senior management from top companies like ONGC, Wipro, Panasonic etc. among others.
A magazine published from Delhi has started a malicious campaign against Attero which is absolutely baseless, unfounded and false. The publication is sensationalizing news by using wrong headlines and tactics. The publication has made the allegation that Attero is not recycling E-Waste but re-selling E-Waste.
The truth is as follows:
1. As per the article published in magazine, Attero was asked to sell E-Waste but our representative refused to sell E-Waste, saying that we recycle it and we sell refurbished computers and extracted metals. So the article text is vindicating our company policy and is in contradiction to the headline.
2. As per the MOEF and CPCB approvals we are legally allowed to refurbish and sell computers. This is also the right thing to do from an environment perspective (3-R principle of reduce, reuse and recycle).
We maintain the highest standards of environmental protection, customer relationship and transparency. Our endeavour is to get a "WOW" response on every interaction that anybody has with our team. We wanted to reach out to you in good faith and communicate our stand proactively. I would encourage you to get in touch with me or any other member of the Attero team in case of any queries/questions. We appreciate your business and look forward to a long term and mutually beneficial relationship with you and your esteemed organization.
Warm Regards,
